North-east Bake Off star Norman Calder to return for hit show’s Christmas special

Fans of the Great British Bake Off are set for a festive treat as the hit show returns for a two-part Christmas special featuring some very familiar faces.

Although fans will have to wait until Christmas Day to see all the action from inside the tent, a new trailer has dropped to keep things ticking along.

This year’s Christmas special features Press and Journal columnist Norman Calder and Shetland’s own James Morton.

The two-part festive special sees eight previous bakers reunite in the tent for a showdown, with Mary and Paul presiding over their tasty efforts.

In typical style, the grumpiest bloke in the show – bread man Paul – is seen looking like an absolute Scrooge as he says “Bah humbug”. Classic Paul.

We’re also treated to Mel and Sue wearing Christmas pudding outfits, of course, and the likes of other familiar faces Howard Middleton and Chetna Makan.

With pretty much everybody in Christmas jumpers and with plenty of seasonal morsels being whipped up – in-between moments of real cooking catastrophe – it looks set to be a real must-watch on the day.

The first part will broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day with the second following on Boxing Day.
