
A memorial service to celebrate the life of a Shetland politician will be held next month.
Danus Skene will be remembered at St Columba’s Church, in Lerwick, on October 28, at 3pm.
The 72-year old SNP politician died last month after undergoing surgery in a London hospital.
He stood as the SNP candidate in both the Scottish Parliament and the Westminster election, losing narrowly against Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael in May last year.
The retiring collection will be for the Tarnos School, in Kenya, which was founded by the late Danus Skene.
