A 25-year-old man from Elgin has been charged in relation to a number of alleged wilful fireraisings between May and June.
The incidents include fires to a caravan and a motor vehicle in the Duncan Drive area of Elgin on June 11, and a fireraising at the Oldmill Visitors Centre on May 25 as well as various others.
Detective Constable Scott MacKay said: “It is fortunate that no one was seriously injured as a result of these reckless incidents. We are grateful to members of the public for their assistance while enquiries have been carried out and continue to urge anyone who sees anything unusual or suspicious in their neighbourhood to contact us on 101.
“Thankfully these type of crimes are rare and I want to reassure the public that any reports of such incidents to us will be treated seriously and thoroughly investigated.”
It is anticipated that the man will appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday 18, June.
