A teenager appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court from custody yesterday on a total of ten charges, ranging from driving while unfit through drink or drugs to sexual assault.
Shaun Penders, of North Lochside, Lerwick, made no plea on all of the charges and was bailed ahead of his next court appearance on July 18.
He was accused of taking and driving away a car from his home address on Sunday without having the consent of the owner, and driving it with no insurance on the A970 near Tingwall.
The 19-year-old was also charged with driving the vehicle while being a holder of a provisional licence and not accompanied by a qualified driver, and not displaying L plates.
Penders was accused of driving the vehicle while unfit through drink or drugs.
He was also charged with driving the car dangerously, also on the A970 near Tingwall on 8 July, and driving while under the influence of an illegal substance and with no lights on during the hours of darkness, losing control while attempting to overtake another vehicle before colliding with it and damaging it.
Penders was further accused of failing to report the accident.
He was also accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the A970 near Tingwall, also on July 8, by handling her breast.
Penders was charged with intentionally exposing his genitals in a sexual manner to another woman, on the same date and at the same location, and assaulting her by seizing hold of her neck and compressing it.
He was accused of sexually assaulting the same woman by making sexual remarks to her and handling her breast, buttock and face.
Finally, Penders was charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick on July 8 by making sexual remarks to police officers.
Sheriff Philip Mann bailed Penders on a special condition that he does not approach or contact, either directly or indirectly, the two female complainers.
