The family of an 88-year-old man reported missing in Orkney have been informed after a body was found.
James Mainland was reporting missing from his home in Birsay after last being seen on July 7.
Police said the body of a man has now been found nearby, although it is still in the early stages of the investigation.
Extensive searches from police officers, coastguard teams and fire teams had been made in an attempt to locate Mr Mainland.
