Shetland Islands Council is relaunching its sportswear drop box scheme for a third year.
The initiative was originally set up after it became apparent that some families in Shetland were unable to take part in fitness activities due to a lack of suitable clothing and footwear.
The council’s sport and leisure service department has been working with a network of local projects and people to redistribute clothing to around 50 people in need.
Lesley Spence, sport and physical activity co-ordinator with Shetland Islands Council, said: “Thanks to the incredible generosity of people in Shetland, we are in a position to run the sportswear drop box scheme for a third year.
“We are continually building on the network of people, services and projects to help distribute sportswear to those most in need.
“Giving people the chance to help make a difference for themselves by enabling them to take part in sport or physical activity in any way is just tremendous, and makes the project extremely worthwhile”.
Drop Box collection points will be located at leisure centres in Unst, Yell, Whalsay, West Mainland, South Mainland and Clickimin.
