Rangers win the chase to bag Munro

Brora Rangers have completed the signing of former Caley Thistle and Ross County central defender Grant Munro on a two and a half year contract.

The 33-year-old was released by the Dingwall club to pursue a career away from football. However, several clubs, including Elgin City and Wick Academy joined the chase for his signature, but Brora have come out on top.

Last night Brora chairman John Young confirmed that he was delighted to get his man.

He said: “Everyone at the club is delighted that Grant has agreed to join us at Brora Rangers and I think he will be an excellent role-model for our younger players.

“Only a couple of weeks ago Grant was playing his football with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership so there is no doubt that bringing him to Dudgeon Park will strengthen what is already a squad of talented footballers.”

Munro is not expected to make his debut in this afternoon’s home game against Deveronvale.

Brora’s only absentee is midfielder Dale Gillespie. Vale travel north without forward Michele Lombardi who is offshore, while captain, centre-half Scott Fraser, faces a fitness-test.

Elsewhere Nairn County and Formartine United meet up at Station Park.

County have doubts about midfielder Gregg Main, who is nursing a hip injury and forward John Cameron who has been ill this week. United are without midfielder Neil McVitie who has a pulled hamstring and forward Daniel Park who has damaged shoulder ligaments.

Clachnacuddin manager Iain Polworth has eight players out for the Grant Street match against Huntly. Chris Ross, Ross Grant, John MacKay, Struan Scott-Woodhouse, Mark Dougal and Ryan McDonald are out as well as forwards Gordon Morrison and Alan Pollock. Huntly will again miss centre half Sam McKenzie and midfielder Alex Thoirs.

Wick Academy are at full-strength for Fort William’s visit to Harms- worth Park.

Fort William are without defenders Sean Grant and Darren Quigg, forward Duncan Campbell and goalkeeper Robin Harvey, all of who have work commitments. Youngster Jack Robson is injured and midfielder Gary Farquhar is doubtful for the trip. However, attacker Danny Mackintosh returns.
