Energy sector recruitment specialist Strategic Resources has made two senior promotions, strengthening its leadership team as it looks to build on its current annual turnover of £38million, which is up from £22million four years ago.

The Aberdeen-based firm has recognised the hard work of employees Gary Gray and Brian Robertson who have been promoted to operations and recruitment director and finance director respectively. In their new roles they will support managing director, Shonah Raffan, in the continued development of the business.

Established in 1987, Strategic Resources provides recruitment and associated services to the global energy industry. Previously associate director, Gary’s expanded role sees him head up Strategic Resources’ recruitment team and take on greater responsibility for business development and client and partner relations. A member of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals, Gary joined Strategic Resources in 2005 and has worked in the recruitment industry for the past 13 years.

Brian steps up to become finance director from the role of finance controller, which he took up five years ago. A qualified chartered accountant, he has over 30 years’ experience of working with SMEs in the north-east.
In addition to continuing to oversee Strategic Resources’ financial operations Brian will be responsible for its strategic planning and forecasting, and systems development.

Managing director Shonah Raffan said: “Strategic Resources has grown in a sustainable way year-on-year and we remain on target to continue this with our latest set of financial results. Our continued self-financing status, which is fairly unique for a recruitment consultancy, is certainly a contributing factor to this growth due to the confidence that it instils in our partners.

“We have always acknowledged the role played by our hard working employees – they are central to our business and our success. Gary and Brian’s promotions reflect this. They have both made important and valuable contributions to business during their time with us and I look forward to their input at a more senior and strategic level as we take the business forward.”
