Hall eyes Glasgow home play-off tie

Hall eyes Glasgow home play-off tie

Glasgow hooker Dougie Hall knows Edinburgh would like nothing better than to derail Glasgow’s bid to secure a home tie in the Pro12 play-offs.

But Hall is determined to seal a runners-up place.

Glasgow have won five games in a row and sit four points off second spot – and they have a game in hand on their rivals for a top-four place.

Edinburgh need to beat Glasgow at Scotstoun tonight to retain any chance of getting into the new Champions Cup next season.

However, a top-six spot looks beyond the Gunners and they are realistically looking for consolation from a difficult season by beating Glasgow and possibly taking the 1872 Cup.

Glasgow round off their regular season against Italians Treviso and Zebre.

Hall said: “There’s the chance of a home play-off spot and that’s a massive carrot for us. That’s something we would love to bring to Glasgow. We would love to have the opportunity to play for a final spot at Scotstoun.

“I think this is the best opportunity we have had since I have been here. We have seen in previous years it’s so hard to go away to these top sides and win.

“We will hopefully have 10,000 supporters on Saturday night. The stadium looks brilliant, it looks like the venue of a major sporting event, which it is going to hopefully be.”

Edinburgh could scupper those ambitions though, as they bid to secure a five-point victory that would regain the 1872 Cup.
