North-east architectural practice, William Lippe Architects, announced the appointment of Lesley Tierney as its planning consultant.

Lesley has 17 years experience in planning both north and south of the border in local authority planning and private practice.

She was the lead officer for the Trump International Golf Links development at Menie Estate.

She has also led a number of other high-profile projects in the area including the Glens of Foudland Windfarm and many residential developments including the award-winning development by Scotia Homes at Rothienorman.

Managing director, William Lippe, said: “We are delighted that Lesley has joined our practice, taking with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly within the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire area, and strengthens our ability to provide architectural and planning services to our clients”.

Lesley has experience in policy planning, developer obligations, community engagement, preparing planning appraisals, applications and appeals.

Her main responsibilities at Aberdeenshire Council over the past few years included managing the Development Management Service in the Garioch area and managing the Master planning and Wind Turbine teams covering all of Aberdeenshire.

She has extensive knowledge of the main planning issues affecting this area and has worked on major commercial developments such as the office and business development at Westhill and large mixed-use developments such as the proposed expansion of Blackdog.

Lesley said: “As a profession I have always found planning to be exciting, varied and extremely worthwhile.

“There are challenges in planning but being involved in so many projects across the area, it has continued to motivate me.

“We have been fortunate in this area that development continued through some difficult times and we are now in another exciting phase of growing our region to be the best environment to live and work in from an economic and environmental point of view.

“Along with the strong team of architects at William Lippe Architects, I look forward to providing excellent advice to, and achieving the best outcomes, for our clients”.
