Where are the Byker Grover cast now? One is a Hollywood movie star…

Many of us will have known TV presenters Ant and Dec as PJ and Duncan once upon a time but what happened to the rest of the Byker Grove cast?

1. Andrew Hayden-Smith aka Ben Carter

He became one of the show’s most recognisable faces after joining in series eight aged 12. He left and became a CBBC presenter. In later years he played Freedom Fighter Jake Simmonds in Series 2 of Doctor Who, made his mark on the West End stage playing Romeo in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. Most recently he has been a regular presenter of The Hub on ITV’s This Morning and starred in Cucumber on Channel 4 and sister series Banana on E4. He also won the award for Celebrity Rising Star at the British LGBT Awards.

2. Charlie Hunnam played Jason

You might be surprised to hear that Charlie Hunnam, aka Jackson Teller from US hit drama Sons of Anarchy kicked off his career with a three episode stint on Byker Grove, playing the character Jason.
He is now enjoying success on the big screen in such films as Pacific Rim and is now taking on the role of King Arthur in Knights of the Roundtable film.

3. Francoise Boufhal aka Ellie Baines

Byker Grove was also the first major role for now glamour model Francoise Boufhal which she landed after auditioning several times for the show.
On her twitter page she now describes herself as a model and TV host and lives in Los Angeles.

4. Nicola Bell aka Debbie Dobson

She was the third element of the love triangle that had teenagers gripped – Debbie, PJ and Duncan. After leaving the show in 1993 she appeared in an episode of Kavanagh QC in 1995 and later went on to become a flight attendant for Virgin.
According to her twitter page she is now a make-up artist and an “extremely blessed and proud mother of three beautiful princesses”.
