School consultations over Aberdeen boundary changes

Aberdeen City Council
Aberdeen City Council

Consultations have been launched over changing the boundaries of school catchment areas in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen City Council is proposing to remove an area of “dual-school zoning” for Sunnybank School and Hanover Street School and to include the area within the catchment for Sunnybank School.

This would take effect from August 1.

The change in school zones would mean that any children in the area would be entitled to a place at Sunnybank but would no longer be automatically entitled to a place at Hanover Street School.

This is to assist with a predicted rise in the Hanover Street School roll, which is likely to exceed the building’s capacity during the next seven years.

A meeting on the plan will be held from 7pm to 8pm on February, 3 at Sunnybank School.

The second consultation is to rezone the Macaulay Estate, from Hazlehead School to Airyhall School and alter the Airyhall and Hazlehead school zone boundaries to include the Pinewood and Hazledene housing developments, from August 1.

A meeting on the proposal will take place from 7pm to 8pm on February 2 at Airyhall School.

Written comments on the proposal can be sent to the council via post or email at schoolestate@aberdeencity.gov.uk
