An Aberdeen shop worker stole hundreds of pounds worth of stock from his employers in order to get back at his boss who had taken a dislike to him.
Dylan Dalgarno had been working at Men Kind in the Bon Accord Centre for six months last year when he started purloining fancy gadgets without anyone noticing.
And the 20-year-old was only caught out – after he left his job at the store – when he boasted about his crimes to one of his friends.
Yesterday, Dalgarno, of Springhill Road in Aberdeen, appeared at the city’s sheriff court to be sentenced, having previously admitted stealing three items worth £579.
Fiscal depute Colin Neilson said a member of staff who still worked in the shop had met a friend of Dalgarno’s in the street.
During a brief conversation, the friend informed the shop worker that Dalgarno had been “bragging” about stealing the stock.
The manager of Men Kind was then informed and the missing items were discovered. Dalgarno admitted his involvement in the crimes when he was questioned by police.
Representing the first offender, solicitor Mike Alan stated that his client had never been in trouble before.
He said he decided to steal the items after his boss took a dislike to him, so he carried out the thefts in order to get back at him.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin ordered Dalgarno to pay £500 in compensation to his former employers and instructed him to carry out 30 hours of unpaid work in the next four months.
