The updated price for the designs is around £3million more than originally anticipated.
When LDA Designs was first appointed, the council said that £17million had been “set aside” for the project.
Yesterday they put the figure at £20million with the local authority’s finance convener Willie Young indicating that there was a £33million budget from which the funds could be taken.
When quizzed about the rising cost, Mr Young said: “The plans haven’t gone out to tender yet so the cost could actually be lower than the £17million.”
