Police are now appealing for more information, fearing more cars may have been targeted.

The force is urging locals to check their vehicles.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information after receiving reports that around ten vehicles were vandalised in Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire overnight, between yesterday evening (Monday, December 26) and this morning (Tuesday, December 27).

“The tyres of the vehicles were damaged.  It is understood that thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused and officers are keen to establish the total number of vehicles that have been affected.

“Drivers in the area are asked to check their vehicles and report any vandalisms to police.
