The SNP group leader at Aberdeen City Council has demanded the local authority reveal how much the delayed repairs to one of the city’s most historic buildings will cost when it is finally complete.

Work on the Granite City’s A-listed Town House first commenced in August 2014, but the project has been hit by a series of delays and the costs have now spiralled to more than £4 million.

The original work was due to cost just £1.2 million, before rotting wood and other problems were discovered.

A spokeswoman for Aberdeen City Council said: “
