A north-east animal sanctuary has launched an online fundraising auction to support the team’s continuing efforts to “save lives”.

Willows Animal Sanctuary, near New Pitsligo is the largest of is kind in the north-east and offers a refuge for any creatures in distress.

The organisation, which also supports vulnerable local people, oversees more than 400 animals including horses, cats, dogs, birds and 200 farm animals.

Later this month, Willows will stage its annual online charity auction to raise much-needed cash.

A spokeswoman said: “Our fundraising auction for Willows Animal Sanctuary will run from February 20 to March 2. We have received some fabulous donations from local businesses and have some very unique items going to auction.

“Watch this space for all the details and support your local sanctuary – nominee for Animal Charity Team of the Year in the Petplan Animal Charity Awards 2017 – to enable us to continue saving lives.”

Items up for auction include a signed Tony Singh cookbook, family tickets for a dolphin-spotting trip, a family trip to Dunnottar Castle and a hypnotherapy session with a local group.

All proceeds from the auction will be used to support animals at the sanctuary. For more information, visit Willows Animal Sanctuary on Facebook.

Last year, the wife of legendary rock vocalist Paul Rodgers – who is Willows’ most famous patron – invited fans of her husband’s career with Queen, Free and Bad Company to donate to the sanctuary to mark the iconic rocker’s 67th birthday.
