Police were called to an Aberdeen theatre after a fight broke out during a music show on Friday night.

The fracas, which involved audience members, happened during Thriller Live, a musical based on the songs of Michael Jackson.

The incident occurred just 24 hours after a brawl erupted during a movie screening at the Belmont Filmhouse.

It is not known how many people were involved, but security staff were forced to eject them from the building.

Police were also called at about 9.20pm to assist the staff. However, nobody was arrested or charged in the aftermath.

Aberdeen Performing Arts confirmed the show continued as planned and no one else was required to leave.

APA’s customer services manager Lynn Hackett said last night: “We would like to extend our sincere apologies to anyone who was upset by these events and reassure customers this type of behaviour and incident is extremely rare in our venues.

“Our staff are fully trained to deal with situations such as this and are active in managing challenging scenarios.”

Police confirmed they were at the theatre for about 50 minutes after being alerted to the incident.

A spokesman said: “We received a call to assist security staff, but there were no arrests or charges. The people involved were asked to leave and did so.”

The incident came just a day after a man was attacked for answering his mobile phone during a screening of T2 Trainspotting, the sequel to the 1990s cult classic.

Stunned audience members watched as a filmgoer stormed to the front of the room and kicked the man to the ground, leaving him in a pool of his own blood.

The Press and Journal understands that two doctors, who happened to be separately attending the film, came to his aid while the culprit and a friend made off.

A police investigation has since been launched.
