The line-up of models for the inaugural male version of charity initiative, Courage on the Catwalk, has been revealed.

Brave, which takes place at the Beach Ballroom on Friday May 5, will feature 24 man who have faced a cancer diagnosis in their lives.

The models will be suited and booted in clothes from leading retailers and strut their stuff on the catwalk.

The evening will also feature live music as well as food and drinks.

Friends of Anchor received almost 50 applications to be part of the Brave line-up, but could only select 24 men.

The models hail from across the north and north-east, extending from Forres to Laurencekirk and everywhere in between.

The youngest model is just 19 and the oldest 78.

The journey now begins in earnest for the participants with Premiere Productions and Friends of Anchor styling and choreographing the men before they make their catwalk debut.

The title sponsor for Brave is James Jamieson Construction, while Nexen is the gold sponsor.

All the money raised from the event will go towards Friends of Anchor’s £1m “Dream Big” fundraising campaign to bring world-class oncology research to the north-east.

One of the models was eager to take part because he knew about the great work Friends of Anchor do from fundraising for the charity in the past, before experiencing first-hand the work they do when he was treated for cancer.

Gordon Hutcheon from Airyhall had been a keen fundraiser for the charity.

In January 2015, the 69-year-old was diagnosed with myeloma.

He received chemotherapy and radiotherapy and, having witnessed the sterling work undertaken by Friends of Anchor, was eager to take part in Brave.

He said: “Anchor’s support is exceptional and you’re grateful for it more when you are in hospital, because they do so much to help.

“I was nominated for Brave and then had to submit my own story. I wasn’t sceptical about it because I will do anything I can, within reason, to help this charity.”

Ballroom tickets for Brave are sold out. Anyone wishing to purchase balcony tickets should contact the Friends of ANCHOR fundraising team on 01224 859004.
