The first phase of a major housing development in Aberdeen has been given the green light, with 71 new homes set to be built.
Cala Homes has been given planning permission from the city council to create the initial phase of Grandhome in Bridge of Don, which will bring a collection of properties including detached, semi-detached and terraced homes as well as apartments to the area.
The master plan for Grandhome, a development which will eventually see 4,700 new homes, has been over a decade in the making. The size, sale and significance of the project mean that it has been adopted as a Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative.
The firm is aiming to offer innovative design that will meet the needs of the community and homebuyers of all ages with the new properties.
Mike Naysmith, managing director of Cala Homes (North), believes the council backing is a big step forward for the project.
He said: “This is a huge step forward in bringing Grandhome to fruition and we can’t wait to play our part in bringing a project as significant as this to Aberdeen. Everything about the design of the development has been created with community at its heart to allow residents to feel part of something of which they can be proud.”
Mr Naysmith insists that the new homes will bring opportunities for a range of different buyers: He added: “Grandhome will open up a brand new urban location to a whole spectrum of homebuyers and will fast become a destination that ticks all the boxes. The scale of the project has been matched by a new aspirational Cala product that will open the doors to families, couples, downsizers and those looking to trade up. “We look forward to bringing it to life over the coming months and adding this exciting new development to our portfolio.”
The first phase of homes within the Grandhome development will be released for sale in autumn this year.
