A charity which works with hundreds of people with learning difficulties and additional support needs throughout the north-east is seeking volunteers.
Aberdeen-based Inspire organises events including supper clubs and arts and crafts events to film clubs and firewalks – in the region.
Volunteer coordinator Eleanor Davison used to work in nursing before she moved into the oil and gas sector.
But now she is wholly committed to her role of recruiting and nurturing volunteers for the group’s Befriending scheme and ensuring it can build on the progress already made.
Ms Davison told the Press and Journal she had been impressed by our recent “Share the Cheer” campaign, which was designed to tackle such problems as loneliness and social isolation.
She said: “We welcome anybody to Inspire who shares our values of empowering people to make and achieve their own life choices and live life to the full.
“Any time you can give will be appreciated and valued by Inspire and it has fantastic benefits, both for the volunteers themselves and the many people who are supported by Inspire.
“Particularly with our befriending scheme, it has been terrific to see some really supportive friendships develop and make a difference to so many lives.
“We currently have 20 befrienders, but we are always looking for more.”
