Representatives from an internationally-renowned auction house will arrive in Aberdeen next week, helping a popular museum to raise funds to keep its doors open.
An antiques valuation day will be held at the Gordon Highlanders Museum on Thursday.
At previous events, specialists from Bonhams have identified items including a £35,000 candelabra and £1,800 bottle of single malt whisky.
Members of the public who are pleased with their valuations can also opt to enter them into the auction house’s annual Scottish sale, which will be held at the end of April.
Bonhams’ managing director and one of its specialists will arrive in Aberdeen on Wednesday evening to host talks about auctioneering and the history of Scottish military weapons.
Both events have been designed to raise money for the Gordon Highlanders Museum, which is currently in the middle of a £300,000 fundraising drive to keep its doors open.
Last May, bosses revealed they need to raise an additional £100,000 every year in order to stave off closure, with the oil and gas downturn hitting its profits hard.
Places at the Wednesday evening talk, which will be held at the museum from 6.30pm, can be booked for £10 per person by phoning 01224 311200.
The valuation day will take place from 10am until 3pm on Thursday.
Appointments are free on a first come first served basis, with a suggested donation of £2 per item, or £10 per collection.
