A number of high-value items have been stolen from building sites in the Aberdeen area.

Solar panels worth around £7,000 were stolen from the Stoneywood area following a break-in on Monday evening.

Building equipment valued in the region of £9,000 was stolen from the Froghall Terrace area of Aberdeen between Sunday and Monday, and copper pipes were stolen from the Greenlaw Road area of Chapelton between Saturday and Monday.

In the Souterhead Road area of Altens, tools and building materials valued at more than £1,000 were taken at some point over the weekend.

Meanwhile, stainless steel gaskets were stolen from Exploration Drive in the Bridge of Don area on Monday.

Inquiry officer PC Kirk Hemmings said: “We don’t have a total value for all the items taken but most of the equipment is valuable and will be costly and inconvenient for businesses to replace.

“We are appealing to the public for assistance and would ask that anyone with information contact the police on 101 using the reference numbers provided. If you have seen anything unusual in the areas targeted within the last week please get in touch.

“We would also ask that anyone who may be offered solar panels or equipment for sale that they get in touch with us.

“We are dedicated to tackling acquisitive crime and are carrying out enquiries to locate the stolen property and to find those responsible.

“If you see anything suspicious in your area please contact police with as much information as you can including makes and models of any vehicles.”
