A developer has insisted planners should have no cause for concern that it will not live up to its obligation to build a play park for a new housing scheme.
Stewart Milne Homes was given final approval to move ahead with plans to build 340 homes at land at Hillbrae Way, Newmachar.
As part of the approval the firm will have to build a play area for children to use after it has built the first phase of homes.
However, due to negative experiences with other developers in the past, councillors insisted that an additional directive be added to the stipulation to ensure the firm would be barred from moving onto the second phase without completing the play park.
A spokeswoman for the company said: “At Stewart Milne Homes, we see green spaces and play areas as critical components in creating desirable places to live. We put as much care and thought into creating neighbourhoods and communities as we do into the construction of our homes.
“Most recently, this is demonstrated by our approach to landscaping and the delivery of a highly commended play park at Countesswells. Equally, we explore ways in which we can offer additional support to the communities in which we build, such as our Greener Spaces, Better Places initiative.
“We fully understand the committee’s position regarding timing for delivery of the play park and, given it has always been our intention to install the play park in line with the completion of homes in this proposed development, we fully accept the conditions around the granting of planning consent.”
