The plans unveiled for the new playpark which is scheduled to be ready by August this year.

Ambitious plans for a colourful new playpark in Aden Country Park are being taken on by a Scottish company who will design and create the play equipment – part of which will be a first for Scotland.

The bright £300,000 play area is part of a wider effort to make the Mintlaw attraction even more appealing to visitors.

Heritage Lottery Funding made £2.13 million
available for the restoration and redevelopment of the country park last year, with the remaining sum needed for the playpark being donated earlier this month.

Now Livingston-based company KOMPAN have taken on the contract to supply the play equipment and surfacing.

The plans include a double zip wire, a sand play area, a biodiversity-themed pond space and a massive castle climbing frame.

A spokesman for the firm said: “KOMPAN are delighted to have been appointed to design and supply the playground for Aden Country Park.

“The site is really beautiful and full of opportunity, which is why the design and choice of materials has been carefully done to fit its surroundings.

“KOMPAN’s goal of creating healthy and happier communities really is in line with the philosophy of Aberdeenshire Council so we are proud to be working in partnership with them on this project.

“The new design will offer children of all ages and abilities the opportunity to have fun, develop their skills, get fit and play together with friends and family.

“Inclusive play and universal design is at the very core of everything we aim for and the new playground will feature some unique play opportunities with the first ROBINIA hardwood climbing dome in Scotland.

“The new playground is at the forefront of modern design and thinking for children and will be a great asset to the local area.

“It will be a playground fit for the 21st Century, which will be enjoyed for many years to come.”

It is hoped the new playpark will be open to the public by August.

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: “We’re excited to be installing the new equipment for Aden Play park.

“It will be accessible for all users and we anticipate the play area will be complete by the summer.”
