A Fraserburgh group attempting to set up a men’s shed has made a “desperate” appeal for a base.
John Grant came up with the idea for the project last November and has been trying to get it off the ground ever since.
He was appointed chairman at the end of the January and was joined by three committee members.
That was quickly followed by a recruitment drive for more members to get involved and they even won the first ever Broch Soup crowdfunding evening, securing £220.
But the fledgling organisation is still searching for somewhere to make their base.
Mr Grant has been speaking with the council and there were hopes that North East Scotland College might be able to offer them accommodation.
However the Fraserburgh Men’s Shed still needs to find a building that is watertight, has a toilet, power and offers enough space for wood working.
He said they have also been approached by a medical professional keen to refer patients to the Men’s Shed once it is up and running.
“The idea of Fraserburgh Shed is to encompass the local community and offer them support and assistance in their time of need,” he said.
“Other groups such as Alzheimer’s groups have also asked if we can accommodate some of their service users. The one thing holding us back is the lack of accommodation, either temporary or permanent.
“The group is in desperate need of accommodation to help these and other groups. If there is a local business with some spare space that they could offer to the shed could they please contact me.
“This is now becoming urgent and would help until somewhere permanent can be found. All we need is for it to be wind and water tight, access to a toilet and power.”

The Men’s Shed scheme was initially launched in Australia to tackle loneliness among older men, but has spread across the world with groups already running in Turriff, Aberchirder, Peterhead, Ellon and Inverurie.
