Four Aberdeenshire pupils have piped their way onto a hugely popular traditional music album.
Lathallan School’s Lydia Broadley, Rebecca Foster, Hannah Swanson and Poppy Wiltshere joined 300 other budding bagpipers on the Red Hot Chilli Pipers special live recording of the song, Highland Cathedral.
The performance was recorded at Heart of Midothian FC’s Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh.
The song will feature as a track on the Chilli Pipers’ new album Fresh Air which is due to be released in June.
The band blend traditional Scots instruments with a more modern sound and have performed all over the world.
Len Wiltshere, a music teacher at Lathallan, in Johnshaven, said: “This was an amazing opportunity for our talented young pipers.
“We have adopted Highland Cathedral as our school song so it can be heard on an almost daily basis being played by our pipers at Lathallan.
“Our pipe band have had some incredible experiences over the years, including playing in New York and in Greenland and this is another unforgettable experience for our pupils.
“The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are one of the most modern and iconic bagpipe bands in the world and it’s incredible to think that our pupils will feature on their album.”
The four pupils from Lathallan will be named on the cover sleeve of the new album which is now available to pre-order.
