The organisers of Aboyne Highland Games have tossed £2,000 to four different community groups.
Last year the event, which is held on the first Saturday in August, attracted in almost 10,000 visitors to witness the traditional sports, Highland dancing and pipe bands.
The first award of £500 was given to 1st Aboyne Scouts which will help fund a trip to Switzerland this summer.
A similar grant has also been given to community group Switched On Aboyne to help pay for the village’s Christmas lights.
Mid Deeside Community Trust will use its donation to help restore the Aboyne fountain.
The final recipient was charity Charlie House, which is fundraising to build an £8 million specialist support centre in Aberdeen.
Alistair Grant, chairman of the games, said: “Aboyne Highland Games is rooted in the local community.
“A huge number of individuals, businesses and organisations assist us in ensuring everything runs smoothly in the village on the first Saturday in August and we greatly value that support.
“Our annual allocation of grants to good causes is an opportunity to acknowledge that backing and provide funds to other groups which also make a valuable contribution to the local community.
“This year’s four beneficiaries mean that once again people of all ages are benefitting from the success of Aboyne Highland Games, which itself appeals to all age groups.”
This year’s event takes place on August 3 on the village green in Aboyne.
