One of the north-east’s biggest Michael Buble fans took home two VIP tickets to see her idol after being first to arrive at the mystery location where they had been stashed.

The world-famous singer has added extra dates to his sold-out UK tour and will play the P&J Live arena in Aberdeen on November 27.

Organisers staged a giveaway yesterday, with the the city’s Duthie Park being announced as the secret spot to find them on the Press and Journal’s website and on the radio via Original 106 at 1pm.

Marie Long, from Bridge of Don, dashed to the bandstand in the middle of the park just moments after the announcement was made, along with her three-year-old daughter Olivia.

The location of the tickets was indicated by a pair of bright pink balloons in the shape of love hearts.

The 39-year-old HR advisor was “delighted” with her win and explained that she had staked out Duthie Park on a hunch that it could be revealed as the spot.

She said: “I just drove over here thinking it might be somewhere open and I was sitting in the car refreshing the P&J website.

“As soon as I heard the tickets were in Duthie Park, I got Olivia out of the car and starting running.

“I never win anything. This is amazing.”

A self-confessed Buble super-fan, Mrs Long went to see the Canadian crooner last week when he performed in Glasgow.

She added: “He was absolutely amazing, he had the audience in the palm of his hands for the whole two hours.

“I took my husband along to that, but I’m not sure who I will take with me to the Aberdeen concert. I’ll need to have a think.”

Mrs Long was closely followed by three runners up.

Ashleigh Adie, 31, Lyn Fraser, 37, and 33-year-old Shelli Valdor all received a copy of the singer’s new album, Love, as a consolation prize.

All three said they had also attended the latest Michael Buble concert in Glasgow, and had been in the vicinity of Duthie Park in the hope of being in the right place at the right time.

Office manager, Mrs Adie, was out on her lunch break thought she “might as well” visit the popular public space in case the tickets were there.

She added: “I was supposed to be picking my daughter up from nursery, but had to get my husband to do it.

“I’m gutted I missed out, but hopefully I’ll still get tickets when they go on sale.”

Tickets for the event go on sale on Friday at 9am at www.aegpresents.co.uk
