A second-hand store in Peterhead has been given the stamp of approval for its re-use ambitions.

Stella’s Voice at Faith Acres in the town’s Inverugie area is celebrating after passing the Revolve re-use quality standard scheme for shops that sell pre-loved goods.

The shop has been awarded the kitemark by Zero Waste Scotland through the scheme which means the clothing, furniture and electrical goods on sale are high quality products that conform to safety standards.

Mark Morgan, director at Stella’s Voice, said: “Second hand doesn’t have to mean second best.

“All our products are quality checked, so you really are getting great value and more for your money.”

A recent survey commissioned by Zero Waste Scotland, the organisation behind the Revolve standard, found that 45% of Scots say if they can be assured of the quality, safety and cleanliness of goods, they are more likely to shop second hand.

The 15,000sq ft store has been selling goods for almost 30 years and raises funds for victims of human trafficking.

Chief executive of Zero Waste Scotland Iain Gulland said: “With more people shopping second hand the Revolve certification helps us to achieve a more environmentally friendly town that will benefit us all.

“We encourage shoppers to think second hand first and to look for the Revolve logo for reassurance they’re going to find great quality items in store and save money as well as do something positive for the environment.”
