New north-east football kit proves popular with fans

Prime Seafoods managing director George Forman and his daughter Naomi Charles present Peterhead FC captain Rory McAllister with the new home shirt.

A football club’s latest kit is proving popular among its fans.

Peterhead FC has been “overwhelmed” with sales and its Balmoor Stadium-based shop has had to restock the new design six times.

The shirt was first revealed in a pre-match friendly against Aberdeen on July 3.

The design brings out a retro-style design with a round neck and pinstripes – which were popular with clubs back in the 1980s.

Also “delighted” with the response were shirt sponsor Prime Seafoods bosses, which has the company’s name emblazoned across the front for the next two seasons.

On behalf of Peterhead FC, club administrator Sharon Brown said: “The response has been phenomenal, we’ve hardly been able to keep up with the demand as families have been preparing to go on holiday.

“It’s also been great to see all the new shirts being worn locally during Peterhead’s Scottish Week.”

Managing director of Prime Seafoods, George Forman added: “This is a great opportunity, as we are supporting Peterhead FC while promoting our name to fans – both in the local area and further afield.

“Peterhead FC and Prime Seafoods are a perfect fit for each other, both are ambitious, focused and continually looking for ways to improve what we do and to overcome any challenges we face.

“We are delighted to support Peterhead as they kick-off the season in the SPFL1 and are seeking continued success this year after last year’s title win and promotion – onwards and upwards.”
