Stagecoach’s new bus timetables will be rolled out across Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands this month- with some services added, changed or withdrawn.

Included is a new service will be connecting Stonehaven with Laurencekirk and Luthermuir.

The Service 747 launched will continue to operate hourly between Stonehaven and Ellon via Aberdeen Airport but will be extended to Montrose every two hours.

Service 757 between Portlethen and Aberdeen Airport will be withdrawn-  with bus bosses saying the decision was “due to the low level of passenger use of this service”.

New service 2S will be introduced operating two return journeys Monday to Friday from Inverness city centre to Royal Northern Infirmary and Highland Hospice.

Service 5 in Inverness will extend to Cawdor, Piperhill and Nairn on weekdays.

For those travelling on service X99 between Inverness and Caithness a comfort break has been introduced in Dornoch.

More than 350 comments were received during the consultation period before the changes were implemented.

They will be rolled out on August 19.

David Liston, managing director for Stagecoach North Scotland, thanked those who shared their views on the proposals.

He said:”We have been delighted with the level of feedback we received regarding the bus network across Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands.

“We value the views of the local communities as they allow us to ensure our plans are meeting the travel requirements of a wide range of people whether commuting to work, visiting friends, getting to college or making longer journeys using our bus services.

“As a result of our analysis of all the feedback we received we really hope our new timetables will make travelling by bus even more attractive.”
