Reduced opening hours at Aberdeen recycling centres will take effect from next month.
As of September 1, Aberdeen City Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC) at Pitmedden Road in Dyce will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The East Tullos centre will also be closed on Wednesdays.
The measure is part of the local authority’s decision to reduce costs and increase revenue after recent funding cuts.
On all other days, both sites will remain open for the same number of hours as they are at the moment, which are 10am to 7.45pm (4.45pm in winter) on weekdays and 9am to 7.45pm (4.45pm in winter) at weekends.

Centres at Scotstown Road in Bankhead Avenue and Grove Nursery in Hazlehead will remain open seven days a week.
Councillor Philip Bell, spokesman for waste and recycling, said: “We remain committed to continuing to provide a good level of service at our Household Waste and Recycling Centres and the sites and days selected are historically quieter, which helps ensure that the change will have minimal impact on site users.”
Meanwhile, Aberdeenshire Council took a similar approach with its Portsoy and Insch centres.
The authority revealed it had scrapped plans to close both these facilities after widespread opposition.
Instead of shutting down the facilities, the council cut hours at all of the sites, apart from Portlethen and Alford.
Councillors have raised concerns the move might cause a rise in fly-tipping.
As reported in earlier editions of the Press and Journal, a freedom of information act revealed Aberdeen comprised 85% of all fly-tipping complaints made in the north.
