A Men’s Shed group is on the hunt for more skilled people so they can broaden their range of abilities.

About 10 people attend weekly meetings of the Banff, Macduff and District Men’s Shed.

But, to increase the number of projects the group can take on, they are appealing for new people to join them and teach them their skills so members can develop a wide scale of abilities.

Vice-chairman David Gault said: “We’ve being going for about a year and a half but now we’re looking for more people as the more differently skilled people we have turn up, the more we can learn from others – men or women.

“It also means we can take on different projects and get involved in a wider range of things across the area.

“Now we just need a place as I know us not having a set premises yet has been putting some people off so far.”

The Men’s Shed provides a place to pursue practical interests and practise skills, as well as offering the chance to socialise to build confidence or tackle loneliness.

The group  is also still looking for a permanent home.

Member Doug Cruickshank said: “Unfortunately we’ve not been able to get a permanent premises yet.

“But we’re working alongside the council to come to an agreement as to a possible venue they have.”

The group has already taken part in several projects, supporting local charities and the primary school.

Mr Cruickshank added: “We’ve done a couple of jobs for some of the local charities such as Deveron Age Concern who we did a few things for.

“We’ve also done a small job for the primary school in Macduff.

“Other than that we’ve had one member who has created wooden ornaments for us to sell as part of our fundraising.

“Once we’ve more people and a premises we’re hoping to get involved with the community in many projects.”

Anyone interested in joining the Banff, Macduff and District Men’s Shed should head along to a meeting.

They gather in the Railway Inn, Banff, on Mondays at 7pm.
