Football fans heading for today’s Aberdeen game will be able to get one last glimpse of Oor Wullie in a unique setting.
With The Dons set for a tricky encounter with Premiership new boys Ross County, the two clubs’ respective Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail sculptures will also go head-to-head.
Wullie Miller, based on the Aberdeen legend, has been housed at the Bon Accord Centre for the last 11 weeks but has headed ‘home’ to Pittodrie for the weekend.
He will be joined there by County Wullie, previously found in North Kessock, on the concourse outside the Richard Donald Stand.
Fans will be able to snap a selfie before and after the game until they are taken away on Sunday ahead of an auction on Tuesday September 17.
Both statues will go under the hammer to raise vital funds for The Archie Foundation in both Grampian and the Highlands, two areas where the charity provides support for sick children.
Jamie Smith, fundraising manager for ARCHIE in Grampian, said: “Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail has sadly come to an end after a fantastic summer of fun across the country.
“Today’s game is perfect timing, however, with both clubs represented on the trail.
“We thought it was the perfect opportunity for supporters of both clubs to get a special picture with the sculptures outside Pittodrie.
“Wullie Millar and County Wullie will then both go off for a well-earned break until our event at Thainstone Specialist Auctions.
“Their sales will benefit the children in their respective regions.”
