Organisers of Aberdeen’s fast-growing crime fiction festival are opening up the event to local aspiring filmmakers.
With plans for the 2020 instalment of Granite Noir well under way, In the Frame will offer a unique opportunity for some of the region’s most talented up-and-coming filmmakers to showcase their short films alongside classic crime movies at the Belmont Filmhouse.
Granite Noir has established itself as one of Scotland’s signature literature festivals.
Attendance levels have doubled since its inception in 2017, and visitors this year enjoyed talks by more than 60 authors at events in 37 events.
Jane Spiers, chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts, which produces the festival, said: “Granite Noir has always championed local writers with Locals in the Limelight, where we invite authors to share their work with festival audiences, so including filmmakers from the north-east seems like a natural progression for the festival.
“This is such a fantastic opportunity to take up a prime spot in one of the most fast-growing, signature events in Scotland’s cultural calendar.”
The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 7.
Entries should be no longer than five minutes, and reflect the noir theme of the festival.
