A motorist has admitted pinning a pedestrian against a wall after crashing while high on drugs.
Christopher Clark yesterday admitted driving dangerously and at grossly excessive speed before the accident in Wapping Street, Aberdeen.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard the 41-year-old was under the influence of a cocktail of substances, including methadone, Xanax and diazepam at the time.
Fiscal depute Colin Neilson said the road condition was good and it was dry when the crash happened at 2.45am on October 6, 2017.
Mr Neilson said: “Witnesses heard wheels screech behind them.
“The accused was driving out of control in Denburn Road, crossed Wapping Street and mounted the pavement.”
Pedestrian Tomasz Markiewicz tried to jump out of the way as the blue Renault Megane approached him but was pinned against a wall and suffered a broken shin.
Solicitor Gail Goodfellow said Clark had a “history of fairly severe depression and drug use” but had recently provided a number of clean blood samples to his doctor.
Sheriff Andrew Miller deferred sentence for background reports and an assessment of Clark’s suitability for a curfew.
In the meantime Clark, of Ruthrieston Circle, Aberdeen, has been banned from driving.
