A special guest launched the Aberdeen edition of Monopoly yesterday.

Mr Monopoly was at Union Square, giving shoppers the chance to scoop up special prizes.

The board game, Mac makeup vouchers and a £500 gift card were up for grabs.

Shocked winner of the £500

The luckiest shopper of the day was Bridge of Don’s Celine Macconnall who was hoping to win the monopoly to take home but instead bagged herself £500 to spend in Union Square.

“I’m really quite shocked – I’m shaking actually. We came for lunch and to get a Christmas timetable for the train, now I’m gobsmacked,” she said.

She plans to put her winnings towards a new phone or iPad for herself.

Jennifer Lou, representative for the classic game said: “We just launched the Aberdeen edition at the art gallery.

“People have been very excited here. We’ve done a few editions before but this has definitely been one of the best receptions.

“Union Square putting up the massive board has been a highlight.”

Kevin Sharp won the last board game up for grabs. He said he felt very “lucky” to have been the final winner.

“I’m happy that it’s an Aberdeen edition,” he added.

Another lucky winner, David Dawson, said: “I’m an Aberdeonian so I’m chuffed to bits to win it. The family can come round for a game.”
