A north-east charity is urging women who have lost a baby to seek help if they are struggling.
Miscarriage Information Support Service (Miss) is offering bereaved parents access to a round-the-clock listening service over the phone and via social media.
The organisation was founded in 2017 and works to raise awareness of miscarriage, support those affected and encourage people to speak out about their experiences.
Chairwoman and founder Abi Clarke said the charity is there 24/7 for those struggling, and said this time of year can be particularly difficult as people look to the new year.
“It’s a difficult time because everyone is celebrating and socialising,” she said.
“It can be quite difficult when you are thinking of a lost baby, as you feel they should be part of your family and they’re not.”
She added: “We have a 24/7 service where people can contact us and speak with a volunteer.
“They can talk about their experience or explain how they feel.”
Mrs Clarke said simple activities, such as lighting a candle, can help.
“You can do it yourself, with just a wee tealight, and have a couple of minutes to think about your lost one. It’s a nice way of remembering them.”

The charity will mark its third anniversary next year with a fundraising bingo event.
It will be held at The Ashvale on Great Western Road, Aberdeen, from 1-3.30pm on Sunday, February 23.
Tickets cost £15 and include a fish supper.
