Police have launched a major investigation after three people sustained serious injuries during a “stabbing incident” in a north-east town.
The emergency services swooped on a flat on the corner of Gladstone Road and East North Street in Peterhead on Saturday night at about 11.40pm.
Three men were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but police were unable to confirm whether anyone has been charged in relation to the matter.
It is understood that the incident involved a knife.
Officers were today seen conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area, and it was reported that forensics specialists were scouring the scene for evidence.
One neighbour said: “I didn’t see or hear anything until the police came into the street with sirens going.
“I went out to have a look, and saw three ambulance and an incident van along with a police van and car.
“They put up their tape and blocked off the road but wouldn’t tell us anything apart from that it was an isolated incident and we weren’t in any danger.
“It was a bit worrying. We had the police round after asking questions like who lives in my house and where they were last night.
“That was all they would tell us, apart from the fact that nobody was murdered.”
She added: “When you have young kids it’s very worrying.
“We bought our house here five years ago and never had any trouble until the last few years.”
A spokeswoman for the police said the force’s investigation was “still very much in the early stages”.
She said: “At around 11.40pm on Saturday, we received a report of three men being seriously injured at an address in the Gladstone Road area of Peterhead.
“They were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
