Firefighters battled for two hours at the weekend to control a blaze which broke out on a north-east farm.
Six appliances were called to tackle the fire which started in an outbuilding on Saturday night.
Crews from Aberchirder, Huntly, Turriff, Banff and Portsoy were sent to the incident near Huntly.
A spokesman for the fire service said a call was received at 9.08pm. They added it was not known what caused the fire.
Crews could be seen from across the field using several pieces of equipment including a jet and haydrag to extinguish the flames.
The incident took place at Forgieston, Marnoch. The owner, John Wilson declined to comment.
Councillor for Turriff and District Iain Taylor, who also works on a farm in the north-east, said: “Yesterday was a tremendously day weather wise, it was very warm and dry.
“Fires can happen in the countryside for a number of reasons.”
Regardless of the circumstances, Mr Taylor said the consequences of the fire “could be substantial”.
He added: “We’re coming into a busy season farming wise and this will be the last thing the owners need, especially with the pandemic going on as well.
“If it was in one of the buildings, if the straw inside it were to catch fire it could all happen really quickly. Though at this time of year stock levels of straw and hay are likely to be low.”
Commenting on behalf of NFU Scotland, Regional Manager Lorna Patterson said: “The weather up here has been extremely dry and windy of recent, and that this arid climate would, of course, lend itself favourably to spreading any fire which had started.
“We would hope that no humans nor livestock were involved and that the farming business can operate as usual, and as quickly as possible.”
