A family butcher shop has set up a fundraising page to help local schools after their usual events had to be cancelled.

H&S Milne and Sons in the Bucksburn area of Aberdeen is trying to collect £2,000 for Bucksburn Academy’s ASN wing, Stoneywood Primary and Brimmond Primary.

Every year the firm supplies the schools with discounted food for their annual summer fun day, which usually raises some extra money to purchase items outwith normal school funding.

Kenny Milne is reminding locals that they would usually be buying raffle tickets around this time of year for the schools, and is asking people to donate some money if they can.

He said: “Every year we usually get orders for the school fair and BBQ and we’ve had a couple of messages saying they won’t be needing them this year.

“I realised that they would be left with no funds. People normally buy raffle tickets and things so it was a good time to ask people to help out.

“It is in the local community, so if we can do anything to help them then we should.”

The online fundraiser has had a good response so far and if extra money is raised then Mr Milne will donate this to other community projects.
