Designer outdoor clothing has been stolen from the Deeside shop which supplies Prince Charles with his skis.
At around 2.30am on Wednesday, management of Braemar Mountain Sports received a call from their alarm company indicating something wrong with the shop on Invercauld Road.
A member of management arrived to find someone had broken in, and stolen clothing.
Colin Bruce, a director of the outlet, said the gear stolen was produced by quality manufacturers and estimated the overall value at about £5,000.
He added: “The last few weeks have been quite difficult for business. April income was approximately 5% of what we would anticipate, but there are fixed costs that don’t go away.
“Like most non-essential companies, we closed both the Mountain Sports shop and The Bothy coffee shop on March 23, as well as our accommodation cabins.
“The majority, but not all, of our staff have been on furlough.”
Mr Bruce said the management is currently planning on how best to reopen, potentially with The Bothy coffee shop opening for takeaway initially.
The shop, which is a favourite of The Duke of Rothesay, was granted a royal warrant last year.
At the time, Mr Bruce said: “We are glad the Prince is a customer of Braemar Mountain Sports and that he has a passion for the hills as most of our regular customers do.”
