Hard-working council workers have been celebrated in an online awards ceremony.
Usually hosted in the Beach Ballroom, the Aberdeen City Council event had to play out on computer screens instead this year.
Judges from various institutions selected the category winners from 147 nominations submitted by staff all across the local authority.
At a time when the council is relying on technology more than ever, IT apprentice David Bartlett was the recipient of the rising star award.
Meanwhile team of the year prize was bestowed upon staff from Aberdeen Art Gallery after the venue’s reopening late last year.
Most of the filming for the pre-recorded event was done via Microsoft Teams and could be accessed either via the organisation’s intranet or YouTube.
Winners were told ahead of the virtual event so that their reactions could be played during the ceremony.
Council co-leader councillor Jenny Laing added: “The virtual awards ceremony was great fun and testament to our staff’s ‘can do’ attitude.”
Angela Scott, chief executive of the council, said: “The Star Awards recognise and celebrate the work that is being done across every service in the council to make a real and lasting difference to the individuals, families and communities we serve across the city.
“The winners, finalists and all the nominees, should be very proud as they are a huge credit to the council and to the city.”
