An Aberdeen DJ and promoter duo are among those who will be living on £2 a day to raise awareness of food poverty in the city.

Mark Paterson and Sean Moggach – who together form the act All Night Passion – have signed up for Appetite for Change, a food challenge fundraiser organised by local charity Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE).

The pair kick things off tomorrow by streaming a DJ set they recorded at Codona’s Amusement Park using special light effects.

Donations raised during the stream and throughout their challenge will go towards tackling poverty.

Appetite for Change participants will be living on £2 a day for five days, during Challenge Poverty Week, which runs from October 5 to 9.

The aim is to increase awareness of the challenges that many low-income individuals and families are facing, and to raise vital funds for CFINE’s support services that help alleviate food poverty in Aberdeen.

“These last few months have been visibly challenging for so many people, so the support by those more fortunate to community projects like CFINE is vital,” the duo wrote.

CFINE chief executive Lisa Duthie added: “The past six months have been very difficult.

“Many people have lost their jobs and families who were struggling before the pandemic are now experiencing significantly increased pressure.

“It is troubling to think about the months ahead of us and so we are organising the fundraising food challenge to make sure we can continue to help everyone who is going through hardship.”
