A helicopter company has made a donation of nearly £3,000 to help sick children across the north-east.

Bristow Group gave the contribution as part of their ongoing support of The ARCHIE Foundation, the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH).

Jonathan Baliff, Bristow Group president, is visiting from the company’s Houston base, and made the donation during a tour of the facility.

He said many of the firm’s employees benefit greatly from the care and services provided to their families by ARCHIE.

“I am very pleased to have been able to visit this impressive facility and to make this donation in recognition of the great work they do for my colleagues, and indeed for the wider community,” he said.

“I am delighted to be able to continue out support of this worthy cause which follows on our selection of ARCHIE as the charity which will benefit from the Energy Ball 2014.”

Bristow Helicopters and Augusta Westland, title sponsors of the Press and Journal Energy Ball 2014, chose ARCHIE – currently holding a 10th anniversary fundraising campaign – as the official charity of the Energy Ball. It is being held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on October 4.

All funds raised by Bristow will go towards the organisation’s High 10 for ARCHIE campaign.

The charity will invest in a 10-point masterplan to turn RACH – which has now cared for more than one million children and their families -into a world-class facility for youngsters.

David Cunningham, chief executive of The ARCHIE Foundation, said: “Bristow has a long tradition of working with us to support local children and their families during difficult times. We are extremely grateful for this further donation that sees this lasting relationship continue.

“It is a wonderful gift that will be invested here in Aberdeen to make a big difference for local children.”
