All you need to know to get around the King Street closure in Aberdeen

King Street will be closed southbound for the next two weeks

An Aberdeen city centre road has been partially shut for two weeks for resurfacing works.

King Street is shut to city-bound traffic from the St Machar Drive roundabout and Mounthooly Way.

Northbound traffic is not affected.

The works – which coincide with the city school holidays – are expected to be finished by 5pm on October 24.

Aberdeen City Council has put the traffic restrictions in place in the interests of public safety while resurfacing works are carried out.

Diversions and bus information

Motorists could School Road, Golf Road, Park Road and Park Street as an alternative route while the closure is in place.

A current width restriction on Golf Road has also been suspended during this time.

First Aberdeen has confirmed that its services which travel from the city centre to Bridge of Don will be able to operate as normal along King Street.

However, the route heading back towards the city centre and Garthdee will detour to Park Road and Seaforth Road before rejoining King Street, which could add extra time to the journey.

Once the current works are completed, further resurfacing will take place on a different section of King Street.

Between October 24 and November 7, the popular street will operate one-way between Nelson Street and Jasmine Terrace. During this time, the one-way restrictions on St Claire Street, Roslin Terrace and Nelson street will be suspended.
