The Beach Bar on Aberdeen’s Beach Esplanade is opening with a new look this Friday after undergoing an extensive makeover.
Originally opening its doors in September 2020, the venue closed in summer in order to develop its food and drink offering and implement state-of-the-art gaming equipment for customers.
It has also been kitted out with a line-up of visually striking features that will have social media fans weak at the knees – and eager to snap some pictures – including comic book style wall art, foliage walls and neon signage.
The Beach Bar occupies the space upstairs from the inflatable theme park, Innoflate, at Queen’s Links Leisure Park and will be run by the same company.
What can I expect?
Darren Margach, CEO of Innoflate, wanted to ensure there were plenty of games on offer for customers to try out at the funky venue.
These include ping pong, shuffleboard, beer pong, hatchet throwing and skee-ball.
There is also a nine-hole crazy pool course – a combination of pool and mini golf, with the aim of the game being to navigate your ball through a waist-high mini golf course – and four lanes of automatic scoring darts.
Games are charged at 30-minute and hourly rates, depending on which one is selected. Prices vary from £5 to £15.
The food and drink to tuck into
The venue boasts a VIP area with picturesque views overlooking the seafront, a sleek and modern cocktail bar, and a draught beer bar that has its own 85-inch TV showing Sky Sports.
They all offer a wide selection of draught and bottled beers, wines and cocktails.
The cocktail menu boasts traditional concoctions and some with a modern twist.
A butterscotch white Russian, banana colada, caramel espresso martini, watermelon mojito, cherry negroni, blue lagoon, bramble and cosmopolitan all feature.
There is also a bar food menu with dishes available to suit all tastes, including starters, light bites, salads, loaded fries, classics, sides, burgers, pizza, desserts and more.
Among the extensive offering are haggis fritters, nachos, fish and chips, gammon steak, a hand-stretched meat feast pizza and ‘The Beach Bar Burger’ – a classic beef burger with crispy chicken strips, bacon, cheese, barbecue pulled pork and onion rings.
As for the sweet menu, this features sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake of the day, lemon tart, coconut panna cotta, Belgian waffles, and a selection of ice creams and sorbets.
Dish prices vary from £4.95 to £28.
The Beach Bar is open from noon to 10pm Sunday to Thursday, and noon to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
