An investigation has been launched after three people were taken to hospital following a crash involving a parked police speed camera van on the AWPR near Dyce.
The incident happened near the road’s junction with A947 Aberdeen to Oldmeldrum road at about 2.15pm on Sunday.
Police and fire service were called to the scene and both northbound and southbound lanes were closed to traffic.
Three fire engines from Aberdeen, as well as a specialist team from Dundee, were deployed shortly after the crash to assist officers.
Police confirmed three people have been taken to hospital following the AWPR crash involving the car and van. Their injuries have been described as not life-threatening.
Images show severe damage to the front of a car involved in the collision, while the right rear side of the van has also been damaged.
A fire spokesman said: “We were called by police to assist with a crash on the AWPR at the junction with A947 north of Aberdeen at 2.28pm.
“Three pumps were sent from Aberdeen, as well as one specialist team from Dundee.
“The team from Dundee was stood down before it got to the incident. We received the stop message at 3.01pm.”
The AWPR reopened at about 9pm.
Appealing for witnesses
Officers said the incident involved a grey Saab 95 colliding with a Scottish safety camera unit van, which was parked at the side of the road beside a grey Skoda Karoq.
The 69-year-old male driver of the Saab and the two other drivers were injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Two drivers of the stationary camera van – two men, aged 35 and 45 – were on foot at the time.
Police are asking anyone who might have information on the incident to contact them.
Inspector Scott Deans, from the north east road policing unit, said: “Thankfully the injuries sustained by the three men have been described as not life-threatening.
“Our inquiries into the crash are continuing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed it, or the vehicles involved, to please come forward and speak to officers.
“If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting incident 1942 of July 17.”
