Petrol prices on King Street in Aberdeen have dropped by as much as 13p per litre in the last six weeks amidst a nationwide declining trend.
However, diesel prices in the area have not seen a similar reduction.
Pumps on the city road are still cheaper than the national average, with the cheapest litre of petrol costing 182.7p and the most expensive coming in at 184.9p.
The current UK average for petrol is 187.88p, while diesel is 196.37p, according to the RAC.
The Press & Journal went to all four filling stations on the 1.6-mile stretch of road between the forecourts, namely: BP, Esso Tesco, Morrisons and Shell respectively.

King Street prices down but diesel up
BP: BP King Street is currently charging 184.9p per litre of regular unleaded, a drop of 1p since last month when it was at 185.9p.
In terms of diesel, it has increased by 9p from June’s price of 187.9p to 196.9p, currently the priciest on King Street.
Esso Tesco: The price at petrol at Pittodrie’s Esso Tesco Express has also dropped since last month, with unleaded going down 2p from 186.9p to 184.9p.
However, diesel has saw a large increase of 10p, with it being priced at 195.9p compared to 185.9p in June.
Morrisons: The Morrisons King Street store is charging the lowest of all four garages on the stretch of road for both petrol and diesel, which is at 182.7p and 188.7p per litre.
It was also the cheapest last month, coming in at 7p cheaper than today at 175.7p and 181.7p respectively.
Shell: Shell’s Park Don branch is charging 184.9p for a litre of petrol, down 13p from June’s price of 197.9p.

However, diesel remains the same at 194.9p per litre.
Elsewhere in Aberdeen, the Press & Journal checked out the price at another Shell.
Shell’s Cocket Hat South station on North Anderson drive is currently charging 189.9p for petrol, with it costing 9p more for diesel at 198.9p.
This has gone up by 8p and 12p since June 10, when it was priced at 181.9p for petrol and 187.9p for diesel respectively.
With all four garages checked on King Street, the average fuel prices today are:
- Petrol – 184.4p per litre
- Diesel – 194.1p per litre
In comparison with last month, unleaded fuel is down by over 2p a litre from last month’s average of 186.6p.
The average price of diesel has not changed since June, remaining the same at 194.1p per litre.
Motorists could see some good news at the pumps over the next couple of weeks, with prices expect to fall by £10 per tank.
